The NSW Parliament passed the Swimming Pools Amendment Bill 2012 yesterday (23 October 2012) without amendment or objection but the Swimming Pool & Spa Association of NSW’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Spiros Dassakis says the amendments are flawed and unlikely to make an impact on the numbers of children drowning in NSW.

The Swimming Pool and Spa Association of NSW (SPASA NSW) has helped to develop a chemical security podcast featuring the Australian Attorney-General, Nicola Roxon. The podcast raises awareness of the security risks of everyday chemicals and urges members of the community to report suspicious activity to the National Security Hotline on 1800 123 400. SPASA NSW Chief Executive Officer, Spiros Dassakis, and owner of Sydney’s oldest Pool Shop, Richard Dunn also contributed to the podcast.
SPASA CEO, Spiros Dassakis has successfully completed the Certificate III in Swimming Pool Repairs, Servicing and Interior Finishes and is now a Qualified and Licensed Pool & Spa Technician.
